These Sacred Objects: Giving Life and Meaning to Everyday Things (a writing workshop)
Come write with me about your sacred objects!
One of my favorite classes I've taught before is writing about our "sacred objects"--- the things we collect over time that we give meaning to. I love teaching this writing workshop because writers reveal a lot to themselves about their emotional connections to these objects, about their history, people, and about what these objects mean to them today.
It's been a part of my longer Spiritual Memoir Writing Workshop since I started it back in 2005--- and I am always amazed at the stories and essays people write about their sacred objects, and the class is too. To me, it's another way to "consecrate" the objects---with story. You also get to explore those meanings, that attachment, the power you or someone you love gives to these objects. I find when I explore objects like these, that they turn up in my fiction, or in essays later.
Come join us Sunday, July 28 for a workshop exploring the meaning we give objects in our lives--- and uncover the deeper resonance they have on our hearts, minds, and souls. This is a memoir writing workshop, and you don't have to have a spiritual connection to an organized religion or faith for this class. You will need to bring your sacred objects to the online zoom class.
All the things you need to know is in this link to the class announcement. What to bring, how to sign up!
Please share widely with anyone you think might enjoy this as the class is coming up quickly, July 28.
Come meet others who are writing about their sacred objects and make new writer friends!
